The Role Of Rollers in Cold Roll Forming:

May 11, 2024

Cold Roll Forming (Cold Roll Forming) is a plastic process, through the sequential configuration of the multi-channel forming rolls, the coil, strip and other metal sheets and strips are continuously transverse bending, in order to make a specific cross-section of profiles.1 This process is usually completed at room temperature, and is therefore called "cold bending". Cold-formed products are called cold-formed profiles, and they can have a variety of extra-thin, extra-wide, and complex shapes that cannot be produced by rolling!

Cold forming technology in construction, automobile manufacturing, shipbuilding, electronics industry and machinery manufacturing and many other fields have been widely used, is a material-saving, energy-saving, efficient metal sheet molding process, new technology.

In cold forming machines, different rollers play their own unique roles. Mainly divided into two kinds of horizontal rollers and vertical rollers.

Horizontal roll is the transmission frame, responsible for driving the metal plate belt forward, and bear the main task of pipe billet deformation. It is the active roller, usually driven by the motor through the transmission system.

Vertical roller is passive, set up in two horizontal rollers or set up in groups, the main role is to guide. Vertical rolls are also involved in part of the deformation and prevent the deformed strip from springing back.

The entire cold forming process is a continuous bending and forming method. When the metal strip passes through several pairs of rollers with holes in sequence, with the rollers rotating the strip forward, while being continuously bent, and ultimately obtain the desired cross-section shape of the part .

The design of the hole pattern has a significant impact on product quality and productivity. The hole pattern is enclosed by the contours of two or more forming rolls having a certain shape, which may be horizontal or vertical. The forming rolls mounted on each machine base are called a molding machine, and each row of molding units consists of more than two molding machines.
